After ten days of perfect weather the strong wind “finally” showed up for several days in the Dolomites, making our lives tough to find safe ski itineraries with good snow. Some hidden valleys remained protected by the wind, couloirs got back into good shapes, mostly all the open bowls  became smooth hard packed, like the Val Mesdì which was very skiable even with normal alpine skis until yesterday.
Below you have a selection of ski touring, off-piste and steep skiing images of the past few weeks. The skiing down Costabella in the Cristallo group is very exciting and not so popular, the traverse of the Forcella di Colfiedo is a beautiful day trip in Cortina d’Ampezzo and it’s ideal in this time of year, the Puez group is always among my choices for nice and challenging ski touring trips; in Arabba there was still space for some first tracks. On the Sella group the Holzer Couloir was in excellent condition, and skiing the Val delle Fontane in first track is a “plus” for one of the most aesthetic and beautiful steep descent not only on the Sella Group.
Let’s hope for some new snow now, we need it!
